Materials and selection

What countertop materials does MeVa Granite offer?

MeVa Granite supplies and installs quartz, granite, marble, quartzite, onyx, porcelain, and Dekton countertops. Available colors, thicknesses, and slab inventory vary by product.

What is the difference between quartz and granite countertops?

Quartz is an engineered surface with a manufactured pattern. Granite is natural stone, so each slab has its own mineral pattern and variation. Quartz does not require sealing. Sealing recommendations for granite depend on the specific stone.

What is the difference between quartz and quartzite?

Quartz is engineered, while quartzite is natural stone. Appearance and care requirements vary by slab, so ask us about the specific material you’re considering.

Is marble suitable for kitchen countertops?

Marble can be used for kitchen countertops, but it can stain and acidic substances can etch its surface. Sealing may reduce staining, but it does not prevent etching.

Which countertop material is best for a busy kitchen?

The right choice depends on how you use your kitchen and how much maintenance you prefer. Quartz does not require sealing. Granite and quartzite offer natural patterns, while porcelain and Dekton may suit some applications. We can help you compare options at our Coquitlam showroom.

What is Dekton used for?

Dekton is an ultra-compact surface used for countertops and other interior or exterior applications. Suitability depends on the product, thickness, support, and installation details.

Can porcelain be used for a waterfall island?

Yes. Porcelain can be fabricated for a waterfall island when the slab and design are suitable. Thickness, support, edge detail, and installation method need to be planned for the specific project.

Can onyx be backlit?

Some onyx slabs are translucent and can be backlit. The effect depends on the slab’s translucency and the lighting design.

What countertop thicknesses are available?

Thickness varies by material and product. Many quartz and natural stone options are available in 2 cm or 3 cm. Porcelain and sintered surfaces may also be available in thinner formats.

Can I view a full slab before choosing?

You can visit the showroom to view available samples. Contact us before planning a full-slab viewing so we can confirm what can be arranged.

Pricing and estimates

How much do stone countertops cost in the Tri-Cities or Metro Vancouver?

Pricing depends on the material, layout, slab use, edge details, cutouts, backsplash, and installation conditions. Send MeVa Granite a project photo or layout, rough measurements, project address, and preferred material to request an estimate.

Do waterfall edges cost more?

They often require additional material and fabrication. The cost depends on the island dimensions, slab layout, and edge detail.

Does countertop thickness affect the price?

It can. Material pricing, weight, handling, and fabrication requirements vary by product and thickness. Ask us to quote the specific color and thickness you’re considering.

Does MeVa Granite offer contractor pricing?

MeVa Granite works with contractors, designers, and builders across its service area. Contact us with your project details to discuss pricing and scope.

What is countertop templating?

Templating is the precise measurement of installed cabinets and site conditions before the countertop is fabricated.

Will I review shop drawings before fabrication?

Yes. MeVa Granite prepares shop drawings for your review and approval before fabrication.

How long does countertop installation take?

Many kitchen installations are completed in one day. The time depends on the project size, site access, and installation details.

How long is the typical countertop turnaround?

Typical turnaround is about 5–7 business days after final measurement, material confirmation, and shop drawing approval. Timing depends on material availability and the shop schedule.

Care and maintenance

Does quartz need to be sealed?

Does granite need to be sealed?

It depends on the granite. Many granite countertops do not need sealing, while some may benefit from it. Ask about your specific slab and follow the sealer manufacturer’s instructions.

Can marble stain or etch?

Yes. Marble can stain, and acidic substances such as citrus or vinegar can etch its surface. Sealing may reduce staining but will not prevent etching.

How should I clean stone countertops?

For natural stone, use a mild, pH-neutral cleaner or mild dish soap and water. Avoid acidic cleaners on marble and other acid-sensitive stones. For engineered surfaces, follow the product manufacturer’s care instructions.

Can I place a hot pan directly on quartz?

Use a trivet or hot pad. Sudden temperature changes can damage quartz, so follow the care instructions for the specific product.

Can porcelain countertops be used outdoors?

Some porcelain products are suitable for outdoor use. Confirm the product rating and installation requirements before selecting one for an outdoor kitchen.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

I was surprised by the level of commitment to customer satisfaction from Mate and Meva granite. After losing two expensive slabs due to a long story, Meva granite took full responsibility and installed a temporary countertop for us bought us the exact same slabs for replacement of the lost ones. We understood that this will cost them a lot of money however, they did it and went above and beyond to keep us happy. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! We love our countertop and backsplash

Arshia Shams

Such a great experience and very knowledgeable team. Had a quick turnaround from ordering to install.

Simon Stuart

We just got our new countertops from MeVa Granite installed this week and they look amazing! There was a super fast turnaround from measurements to installation and the price was extremely reasonable. I loved that I was able to book a date/time for the store visit, measurements, and installation online. We also purchased our kitchen and bathroom sinks from them as they were very reasonably priced. I highly recommend MeVa to anyone looking for new quartz countertops!
